DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF...

The building at 929 W. Grace Street has housed a venue for nearly four interrupted decades. Whether it was known as The Back Door, Twisters, Chronos Cafe, Club 929, Nanci Raygun, or Bagel Czar, it was the site of some of the greatest live shows in the rich history of Richmond underground music and the birthplace of some of the city's most legendary bands. This current incarnation, Strange Matter, opened it's doors in November of 2009 and had our first show on April 22nd, 2010--The Catalyst, Field Day, Caves Caverns, and Kreta Cano.
